Thrift Finds #1

WELCOME, EARTHLINGS (aka my darling readers, IF YOU ARE OUT THERE AND REAL).

I have decided to add a *feature*-ish thing!
THRIFT FINDS!
Thrift Finds will be a semi-regular feature about my finds at my local, small-town thrift stores, my THRIFT ADDICTION, and stuff like that.
SO, WITHOUT FURTHER ADO...
HERE ARE MY Thrift Finds!

After my record player came a few weeks ago, my mom took me to go ~record shopping~. Seeing as no one ever buys records there (ever) I found a fantastic amount of new records to add my collection!

Left, from top to bottom:
Judy Collins
Love Story soundtrack
Peggy Lee

Right, from top to bottom:
Teresa Graves
Ed Ames
101 Strings
From top to bottom:
Joann Bonn & The Coquettes
Strauss Waltzes
Bobbie Gentry

From top to bottom:
Herb Alpert and The Tijuana Brass
Romeo and Juliet soundtrack
Bette Midler (WHICH CAME WITH A POSTER, OH MY GOD)

 From top to bottom:
Sammy Davis Jr.
Duran Duran
Mystic Moods Orchestra
From left to right:
The Captain & Tennille
The Music Lovers soundtrack
Marie Osmond

National Geographics from 1979 (on left), and 1984 (on right)
Then I got these two National Geographics for collaging, but the one from '79 was way too pretty, so I had to keep it ALL FOR MYSELF. MUAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

Tavi was so right.
National Geographic really is the best thing ever.

September Gurls

Hey, y'all!
I feel like it has been *forever* since I last blogged (which really isn't true, but WHATEVS). So, hai, let's go through my life as of late!

 Dress: thrifted
My mom got this dress a few months ago to put on Etsy, but then I was like, AHHH I NEED THIS, BECAUSE IT PRETTY MUCH FITS (except in the arms, and I like, cannot move my arms in this. Ohhh well...) AND IS SO WONDERFUL.
But really, IT IS THE BEST THING EVER. So yeahhh, go me.

 Boots: thrifted

This dress also makes me feel really ~witchy~. We were all driving around, and I was listening to "Witchy Woman"
and was all like "WHOOOOO OOOOH WITCHY WOMAN". Major vibes from this dress, guys.

Look at this amazing car I saw when we were driving...

 Pink necklace: Girl Props
Crystal necklace: DIY

OH, GUESS WHAT? I GOT I RECORD PLAYER! I was supposed to get this one on my birthday, but (to make a long story short) it just didn't work out and my mom could not find it anywhere. Then, a few weeks later, we found the same one on EBAY! THANK YOU, EBAY!
It is really amazing and I love it with all my heart <3

 Dress: vintage from Etsy
Tights: We Love Colors
Vest: thrifted
Shoes: Torrid

 Badge: DIY'd
I made this Laura Palmer badge with my Badge-a-Minit and the inside of the Twin Peaks CD that I have. It is one my most favoritest badges that I've ever made, EVER.

 Necklace: vintage from my grandma

AND HERE IS A DETAIL OF MY FACE.

 Glasses: Girl Props
Earrings: vintage from my grandma
I wore this outfit to a football game (even though I really hate football). Even though, ya know, football games are at night... THESE SUNGLASSES ARE JUST SO FUN that I bring them everywhere where humans will be.
They are a party-starter.

 Badge: DIY'd
Another Laura Palmer badge. So purty <3

Here is my cutie patootie face in a heart I painted pink for my next DIY kind of project.
It took me about two months to get around to painting it this ~lovely~ color, so I'm planning on decorating it two months from now. HAHA, just kidding. But, seriously, I am so lazy about these things...

AND, OH, HAI, HERE'S ME IN MY ~special~ DRESS.
Headband: handmade
Dress: vintage from Ande Monster on Etsy
Belt: from Ross
Tights: We Love Colors
Shoes: Torrid

I saw a former theater director of mine who told me that I looked beautiful and that she "loved my dress, loved my outfit, loved everything." It was really sweet and filled my heart with warmth <3

ANYWAYS, School *finally* started for me, so it's been kind of confusing and busy lately. I'll be blogging more, though, my lovelies!

As Tears Go By

 Hat: from Ross
Shirt: vintage from Tabby's Vintage Shop on Etsy
Jeans: Gloria Vanderbilt
Shoes: thrifted
Bracelets: handmade

I really loved this outfit, I felt like Marianne Faithfull or something (IT WAS JUST SO CUTE). And I loved breakin' out the hat, seeing as I don't think I've really worn it much since I bought it for our Disneyland trip last year.

Eyeliner: Hard Candy Liquid Eyeliner

AHHH THAT HAT.

So, I haven't been on a ton because my computers memory is ON THE OVERLOAD.
So I have yet to delete stuff (or have my mom delete stuff), put on my 700 pictures, upload them to my blog, and write witty captions.
Ah ha ha ha ha ha.

Happy Birthday, Rookie!

Happy birthday, Rookie!
In case you didn't know, Rookie Mag turned ONE YEAR OLD TODAY!! YAY LET'S PARTY!

This day is very special for me, seeing as I worship Rookie/Tavi/all of the Rookie staff. SO YAY GO ROOKIE.
Anyways, I made a Rookie collage for this ~magical day~, and put it on my Tumblr, Hello Little Daisy. AND GUESS WHAT? ROOKIE RE-BLOGGED IT! AND THEN GUESS WHAT?
TAVI RE-BLOGGED IT!
That made my day week year LIFE.
I actually fell to the floor with LOVE AND JOY AND HAPPINESS.
OH MY LORD, SO FREAKIN' HAPPY.

My ode to the greatest magazine of all time.
I used pink construction paper, printed Rookie pictures, stickers, dried flowers, and ink pen. I also made a crown for Tavi's collage head, but it was too big for the scanner and didn't scan it :'(
I was really happy with the way it turned out, LOOKIN' ALL ADORABLE WITH THE STICKERS AND ROOKIE PICTURES. It really put me in the spirit of ROOKIE-ness.
So, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ROOKIE!

Anyways, I've been really collage-y lately, and decided that I'd put up a couple of my most recent collages on here and maybe Tumblr.
Herrrrre we go...

Inside The Mind of a Teenage Girl
I call this one "Inside The Mind of a Teenage Girl". I used fancy paper, vintage pictures, my own art and ~stickers~.
Basically, this was an ode to teenagedom and how overwhelming and lonely and wonderful it is to be any kind of teen/kid/person growing up. Your mind is full of  life and sadness and STUFF.
Trust me, I speak from experience.

My So-Called Life
I (of course) call this one My So-Called Life (obvious, much).
I used printed pictures, dried flowers, ink pen, and more ~stickers~.
This is my personal favorite, because every time I look at it I think of the entire series, which was filled with joy and beauty and sadness and fantastic acting.
I LUUUUH YOU, MSCL.

I also really liked the way I put it together. GO ME, I MADE A COLLAGE.

So, those are my most recent ones, and I was really satisfied with the turnout of all of them (especially the MSCL one, because I have been so sad since that show ended).

Here is to MSCL, teenagedom, and Rookie's one year birthday!

Indian Summer

HELLLLLO.
I feel as though I should apologize, because I've been kind of lazy, like the "I WANT TO GO WASTE HOURS ON TUMBLR AND DO NOTHING ELSE" kind of lazy. This translates to no real blogging, but  HERE I AM. Yayyyyy.
To start things off, I turned 14 on the 17th.
ALRIGHT, YEAH, PARTY.
My birthday was MAJORLY rad, and my parents gave me really cool presents, most of which were from Etsy or eBay, or some place that sells used vintage things.
My heart melted when I opened all of them, and my lovely parents made me a beautiful cake that was pink with a daisy on top. HEARTS IN MY EYES, GUYS. Plus my mom decorated my table with daisies in vintage salt shakers, and daisies in nice little rows, AND DAISIES EVERYWHERE. Oh, it was fantastic.
And I woke up to some of my favorite birthday/party themed songs ("Birthday", by the Beatles, "16 Candles", by the Crests, "What a Nice Way to Turn 17", by the Crystals, and "It's My Party", by Lesley Gore).
THANKS, FAMILY.
So, anyways, apart from that I've been collaging (really should post those), Tumblr-ing, dressing-up, reading a lot about fat acceptance and feminism, and hanging out before school starts (DUN DUN DUN DUN).

I wore this outfit to go to a going away party for my friend (SO SAD, seriously):
Dress: vintage from Miso Vintage on Etsy
Tights: Forever 21
Shoes: Torrid

My parents got me this dress for my birthday, and IT IS SO BEAUTIFUL, I WANTED TO CRY, CANNOT BELIEVE I OWN SOMETHING SO BEAUTIFUL AND STUNNING AND '60s. AHG, IT'S LOVELY. The really sad thing is that I ripped one of the little adornments that go down the front while getting on and off a swing (CURSE YOU, SWING). Tearssss.

I wore this to run some errands with my mother:
Dress: vintage from Ottolines Oddities on Etsy
Shoes: Torrid (DANG I NEED NEW SHOES)

I got this dress for my birthday, as well, AND IT MAKES MY HEART MELT. It's so classically '70s. I feel like Vickie Miner every time I touch it.
Oh, and my grandpa got me a new camera that takes BITCHIN' pictures with RAD effects, like said picture above. Ah, I love it.

And my make-up was really simple '70s, but here it's kind of faded:
Eyeliner: Hard Candy Liquid Eyeliner
Mascara: Hard Candy
Lipstick: Covergirl Cover-up

And here is another stunning dress that I got for my birthday that I have no pictures of me wearing:
Dress: vintage from Ande Monster on Etsy
It is really pretty, and HAS PINK DAISIES ON IT. It was so made for me. Someone in the '60s thought, "Some girl in 2012 is really gonna love daisies and the time I live in SO I'LL MAKE HER THIS DRESS."
Definitely what happened.

I had to wake up early and go to the dentist, so I did this thing I've been doing with my eye make-up lately:

Eyeliner: Hard Candy Liquid Eyeliner
Eyeshadow: Hard Candy Powder Keg Eyeshadow

It's hard to see here/looks pretty bad here, but in reality it is really cool. I based it on Iona's look in Pretty in Pink (best movie ever), and the Mermaiden's trial, but with color.

OHEMGEE, I TURNED INTO VICKIE.
Lipstick: Revlon
Dress: vintage from Ottolines Oddities Etsy
Sunglasses: A.J. Morgan
Tights: We Love Colors ('nother birthday present, YAY! These are the best tights I've ever owned. Period)
Shoes: Torrid

I asked for those tights so I could pretend to be Vickie Miner.
Yes.

And that's all for now!
