Teasing Combs in The School Bathroom

Hellllooo everyone.
So, I'm sick THE DAY BEFORE Halloween. Yeah, I'm feeling like crap and I don't want to do anything because being sick sucks, and not knowing if you will be too sick on an important funtimes day totally sucks.

Anyways, I AM LONGING to wear pretty things, because I'm just loungin' in my PJs feeling like my head is going to explode.
At the current moment, I really want new clothes or something new that I can work with.
I am desperately wanting to buy some patterned '60's skirts/vintage white blouses like the ones Tracy wears in Hairspray (1988).
(I couldn't find any other pictures of old Tracy because the internet sucks.)

AH SHE'S SO PERFECT I WANT TO DIE. I am gonna have to do some major clothing searches so I can steal her identity.
Now I want to sleep and pray I am well enough to consume copious amounts of candy.

I Wish I Were a Princess

BEFORE I START THE REST OF THIS POST, A QUICK LIFE UPDATE:
Helllooooo, everyone! I feel as though I have to apologize for not posting as much. I've been really busy with school/the play, and the computer I usually upload all my stuff to/work on stuff decided to go and shut itself down for a while! YAY! Therefore, I've been having to do everything on my mom's comp or our laptop with limited memory. SO, THERE YOU GO.

Anyways, I went to homecoming!
I had never been to a dance before (despite the fact my ~6th grade friends~ were all like "GO YOU'LL HAVE SO MUCH FUNNNNN OMG") and it was SUPER FUN!
I totally loved gettin' fancy and just DANCING LIKE CRAZY.
I feel like no one dances anymore. Like, even if you're at a dance, everyone just kind of awkwardly moves their arms and wiggles a little.
Like, WHERE ARE THE DANCES?! Back in the '60s, everyone did the Twist, or the Mashed Potato, and now I feel like we do ~The Nothing~.
BUT, THAT BEING SAID, it was totally rad! At first me and my friends were like "OH GOD WHAT DO WE DO", and then I got really into it, way more than I expected to.
Here I am, after getting ready *alone*:

Dress: vintage from Etsy
I totally adored my outfit. I felt all cool and rad and '60s, and, at first, I was going to wear *4-INCH HEELS*, but I was like "I'VE NEVER DONE THIS BEFORE I'M TOO SCARED HELP" and opted for my regular brown flats.
I did a raccoon-y cat-eye, wore some cover-up as lipstick, and teased/rolled my hair into a beehive. After I bobby pinned it, I hair-sprayed the hell out of it.
It was definitely the most secure beehive I've ever done.

Then, I had to wake up really early the next morning (yeah, I was effing exhausted) and get ready to go on a TRIP!
WHERE I BOUGHT THESE AWESOME GLASSES (and wore this Tavi-inspired outfit)!

My radical pins

THEN WE WENT TO THIS JAPANESE DOLLAR STORE, and I bought MORE AWESOME STUFF!

I bought that effing awesome doll for $1.50, and then I obviously had to buy her a maid outfit.
Duh.

Me looking sassy while holding my ~new~ $1.50 UMBRELLA!

While on this super-awesome trip, I was just ~walking along~ and SUDDENLY, WHAM! I fell into this really deep hole in the sidewalk, fell forward and hit my shoulder against a poll, then fell BACKWARDS onto the rest of the sidewalk and ripped my yellow tights!
Fun!

So now I'm yellow tightless :'(

ANYWAYS, this is an outfit I put together in literally 3 minutes:

Rosemary's Baby necklace: from Etsy
Shirt (which  is actually a dress): vintage from Ottolines Oddities Etsy
Corduroy pants: Gloria Vanderbilt
Boots: thirifted

It was really '70s and my director said I looked lovely with my hair up, even though I look like a giant baby in pants in these pictures. PLUS, I got to wear my new ~corduroy Gloria Vanderbilt pants~, which are soooooo comfy and make feel like a QUEEN.

Oh, and here I am a few weeks ago in a witchy outfit (I only got my make-up on camera, though. TEARS), which made me feel like a badass.

OH, AND MY NAILS WERE LOOKIN' FINE.

I feel really MAD at myself, because I have been wearing RADICAL outfits and I've been way too lazy to photograph them. WHAT'S WRONG WITH ME?

Let's have a moment of silence for our lost outfits.
Amen.

P.S. This was a really WORDY post, so if it was too much for you to bear, I UNDERSTAND.

Catholic School Drop-out

Not With That Hair, You Won't

Not With That Hair, You Won't
So, I made my first-ever Polyvore set! I've had an account for about 2 months, and never actually made anything. SO HERE IT IS.
I really want to get into beatnik stuff, and whenever I think "beatnik", I always think Pia Zadora as the beatnik in Hairspray!
She is talks about Odetta and  recites "Howl" and is just totally groovacious.

AND, in this Pia-filled, beatnik soul-search, I also realized that Polyvore is super fun. I'll probably make it a weekly feature to show a Polyvore set with a character/theme of my choice. I hope everyone enjoys!

Thrift Finds #2

Helloooo everyone!
I've been really busy lately (lots of homework, rehearsals, tiredness), but not too busy for some ~THRIFT FINDS~! Here are some of my finds from one of my last thrifting trips!

I am a total sucker for vintage paperbacks.
HAS THERE EVER BEEN A MORE PERFECT ONE?

More vintage paperbacks. Police Nurse looks like the perfect juicy '50s novel which I will probably never read, because I am a bad person who buys books to display and never reads them.
And this Empire of The East looks like my sci-fi dreams. RED HAIRED PEOPLE. BLUE GOWNS. RADICAL '70s ART.
Of course this was made for me.

We found these awesome vintage Packard ads, which were actually packaged. My brother got the other one.

I love this ~magical~ brown floral fabric.
IT'S JUST SO BEAUTIFUL AND FLOWERY.

My record haul for this trip...
Baja Marimba Band
Bruce Springsteen
Jerry Vale

Wynona Carr
Elvis Presley

I ACTUALLY FOUND AN ELVIS RECORDS. SERIOUSLY. FOR REALZ.
I feel like Elvis is just so legendary that finding one his records is very ~historical~. Like, THIS IS ELVIS, GUYS.
And Wynona Carr is AMAZING. Her voice is so smooth and lovely and deep. LOOK UP HER MUSIC NOW. NOW, I SAY.

 Guitars Unlimited
The Three Suns

I basically got that guitar album because it had this lady in a pretty dress with a guitar.
Same with The Three Suns album.
WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE?
I JUST LIKE YOU BECAUSE OF YOUR ALBUM COVERS.
Offenbach: Tales of Hoffman
Wayne King
The Umbrellas of Cherbourg

Same with these three...
I do admit I went a little overboard with the records. Suddenly you come home, your thrifting-adrenaline drops, and then you go "Wait. Do I really need another slow waltzes record with a great cover of some girl in a white feathery dress?"
The answer is, generally, yes.
